Searching for Gold Sky explores the evolving relationship between tradition and contemporary practice in Asian art, bringing together artists from China, Korea and Indonesia. The exhibition features six artists whose practices engage deeply with historical narratives, material traditions, and the shifting nature of cultural exchange. By reinterpreting traditional methods and collective memories through a contemporary lens, the artists forge a dialogue between past and present—bridging techniques, styles, and cultural frameworks. At the same time, their works reflect enduring Eastern philosophical principles such as the primacy of nature over the individual, and the constancy of change and motion. Spanning painting, drawing, textiles and sculpture, Searching for Gold Sky considers how inherited forms are reconfigured, reinterpreted, and embedded within contemporary visual languages.
